Traditionally, Finnish midsummer involves activities such as going to the cottage, barbecuing, and - of course - sauna. You can create a special atmosphere and a festive feeling for the midsummer sauna with a sauna whisk.
Instructions for tying a traditional Midsummer birch whisk

- Gather a bundle of birch branches of a size suitable for a whisk.
- Trim the lower edges of the branches so that there are no twigs left around the handle.
- For tying, you will need a birch branch, which should be peeled completely using a knife. In addition, the branch needs to be twisted into a spiral so that it becomes flexible enough for tying.
- Grip the handle and push the branch to be tied through the other branches slightly above your hand, so that only about 10 cm of the tail of the tying branch remains sticking out. You can hide the tail between the branches.
- Wrap the tying branch around the handle a few times and pull it into loops, first above the handle and then below it. Remember to tighten the loops firmly.
- Turn the end of the tying branch into a loop by pushing it under the binding point among the branches. Finally, trim the branch ends evenly a couple of centimeters below the lower binding point, and the birch whisk is ready!

Here's the whisk, ready for the midsummer sauna! Happy Midsummer!
